Global Agricultural Safety Forum

GAS Forum I - A global challenge, a global response
Rome (Italy), 25 September 2008

Hot to get there

A Global Challenge

Thanks to farm mechanisation, the agricultural sector is now able to face up to the biggest challenges of the new millennium, feeding a rapidly growing population and helping to find the most sustainable solutions to the energy crisis.

The number of agricultural workers is going down, but the number of accidents at a global level, including fatal accidents, remains high. Occupational diseases also affect a very high percentage of workers, both men and women.

A Global Response

The Global Agricultural Safety Forum (GAS Forum) has been conceived to offer a global response to a problem that affects everybody working in the sector: machinery manufacturers and distributors, farms and farm machinery companies, workers, public and private operators.

Experts invited to the Forum, representing leading national and international organisations, will meet to discuss the current situation and seek a shared vision for the future.
The morning session will be devoted to examining the status quo and prospects for the future. In the afternoon forum farmers, traders and producers will meet to discuss the various points of view of the sector’s protagonists.
