Safe growthThere is a growing awareness in Europe and in the world that the macroeconomic indicators used to measure and evaluate progress are incomplete. It is thus necessary for international policymakers to take into account other growth indicators for countries that include factors relating to the quality of life and of work, such as wellbeing, the environmental sustainability of policies, education, respect for people’s rights and so on. The health and safety of workers is thus a significant factor for the economy and for social wellbeing. This year the second edition of GASForum sets out to examine, together with experts from the sector, the growth of safety in agriculture which, thanks to progress made in the sphere of mechanisation, goes in tandem with greater productivity, and is positive for the economy and for the progress of both mature and emerging economies.
